Nosei LA is a mental health center created for Los Angeles’s large and diverse Jewish community.
Too many people in our community are struggling—and not getting the help they and their families need. They can’t find therapists who understand their Jewish culture. Or they can’t afford it. Or they feel too ashamed to even start.
We increase access to culturally sensitive care by providing sliding-scale therapy and support groups. We also raise awareness and break down stigma through community psychoeducation.
Our services
Therapy
Sliding-scale therapy for adolescents, adults, and couples dealing with anxiety, depression, transitions, or relationship challenges.
Support Groups
Groups led by mental health professionals where people facing challenges can find companionship, tools, and encouragement.
Community Education
Educational programming, workshops, and resources for schools, Rabbis, parents, and community members about relevant mental health topics.

The people behind Nosei LA
Larissa Adler, LMFT
Larissa worked in a variety of community mental health centers before beginning a private practice in 2013. She specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and women with anxiety, life transitions, emotional regulation, and communication.
Larissa was surprised to see how many members of the Los Angeles Jewish community struggled to find culturally appropriate and affordable services. Larissa has also witnessed the challenge people face in feeling comfortable and confident seeking therapy in the face of continuing stigma related to mental health.
Elan Javanfard, LMFT
Elan is a consulting psychotherapist focused on behavioral health redesign, a professor of psychology at Pepperdine University, and a lecturer on mindfulness, evidence-based practices, and suicide prevention.
Prior to graduate school, Mr. Javanfard studied the effects of autism and early childhood disorders on individuals and families. He received his training in multiple sought-after clinical rotations, working alongside a multi-disciplinary team to treat chronic and severe mental illness in low- to no-cost community clinics, specializing in evidence-based practices and high-risk clients.
Elan has published research on social skills interventions and on music and alternative interventions. He is the author of a weekly blog, Psycho-Spiritual Insights: Exploring Parasha & Psychology.
Why Nosei LA?
No one should suffer in silence because they can’t find or afford a therapist who appreciates where they come from.
At Nosei LA, you don’t need to explain your culture or religious values—because we get it. You can get straight to work on yourself, knowing you will be understood, accepted, and respected.
